The pneumococcal vaccination protects you against pneumococcal infections which can lead to conditions such as pneumonia, septicaemia and meningitis. If you are over 65 you are at higher risk of complications. If you are 65 or over you will be offered a vaccination by your GP practice. You should only have to have this vaccination once and it should protect you for life. If you are over 65 and you haven’t had this vaccination, contact your GP practice. You can have it at any time of year.
