A Mobile Testing Unit (MTU) will be operating in Evington in support of the COVID-19 National Testing Programme from 18th June 2020.
Testing is by appointment only. Appointments can be made through https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested
Mobile units are only in a location for a few days. They have an integrated one-way system that allows people with an appointment to attend for either walk-in or drive through testing.
The eligibility criteria for tests have been extended to include:
- Anyone aged over the age of 5 with symptoms
Essential workers will be given priority.
More guidance can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested#who-can-be-tested
For tests to be effective you must be symptomatic, more on the symptoms of COVID-19 can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/
Cllr Vi Dempster, Assistant City Mayor for Health for Leicester City Council said: “This latest mobile testing unit will make it even easier for local people with coronavirus symptoms to get a test. People do need to remember to book an appointment before travelling for their test, both for this mobile unit and the facility in Birstall. It is also important to book their appointment as soon as they develop symptoms.”
