A Mobile Testing Unit (MTU) will be operating in Melton in support of the COVID-19 National Testing Programme from 8th June 2020.
Testing is by appointment only. Appointments can be made through https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested
Mobile units are only in a location for a few days. They have an integrated one-way system that allows people with an appointment to attend for either walk-in or drive through testing.
The eligibility criteria for tests have been extended to include:
- Anyone aged over the age of 5 with symptoms
Essential workers will be given priority.
More guidance can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested#who-can-be-tested
For tests to be effective you must be symptomatic, more on the symptoms of COVID-19 can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/
Cllr Joe Orson, Leader of Melton Borough Council said:
“We are pleased to support the NHS in providing a mobile testing facility in Melton. Testing enables people who are exhibiting symptoms to find out if they have the virus and make the decision as to whether they need to isolate. I would urge anyone who is exhibiting symptoms to book an appointment to get tested.”
