More pop-up Covid vaccination clinics to be held in Leicester this week

5th May 2021 | By Jay Mistry | Posted in

Two new pop-up Covid-19 vaccination clinics will be held in Leicester this week to enable eligible residents in the local community to get their vaccine.

Starting from today, (Wednesday 5 May) the Melbourne Health Centre, will be vaccinating eligible people who reside in either Highfields or Spinney Hill areas of the city. The clinic will run for two days (5 and 6 May 2021) between 2pm and 7pm on both days. Appointments are not required but health officials are requesting that you bring your NHS number and a form of identification to the drop-in if possible.

There will also be a twilight drop-in clinic held on Saturday 8 May, between 5pm and 7pm at the Leicester Islamic Centre on Conduit Street.

Rachna Vyas, Executive Director of Integration and Transformation for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland CCGs, said: “It’s so important that people have their vaccine to help reduce the spread of the virus and we hope that by hosting pop-up clinics on a drop-in basis in the heart of local communities it will help people to have their vaccine closer to home – especially in areas of our community where we have seen higher rates of Covid.”

“Our teams are working incredibly hard with community leaders and our Primary Care Networks (PCN) to identify areas across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) which would benefit from having a pop-up vaccination clinic. We have seen from other pop-up clinics that we have held over the past few weeks it really makes having the vaccine accessible to patients who would otherwise have difficulty.”

Further drop-in vaccination clinics are being considered by the CCGs, PCNs and community leaders in areas where vaccine take up rates are low.
